'Style' icon is not really a fitting title for Marilyn Monroe. When looking at her picture, are you really EVER looking at her hat or the cut of her jacket? If Monroe ever sashayed past you, would you really care who made her dress?
Can Marilyn ever really be celebrated as a figure of style, when she looks her most dynamite in a black turtleneck?
It was never her 'style,' always just her; the face, the hair, the pout, and the eyes that could convey both artful seduction and pleading vulnerability with equal aplomb...Some say she exuded sex, but even more she exuded humanity and femininity. Clothes and shoes and furs and diamonds are just gilding this lily. For this, we name her a favorite beauty icon.
