According to Elle.com, "Overalls are having a moment." They have popped up on runways in both New York and London. Gothic jewelry designer Pamela Love (love her... no pun intended), draped her new collection on models donning Carhartt overalls.
Top Shop did them in gorgeous, rich velvet. The Row, the high end line from fashion girls who can't do wrong, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, offered quilted leather versions. Ms. Alexa Chung, another one of those hipster chickies, who I must admit, almost always looks great, was photographed sporting your more traditional denim version.
Ugh, ugh...no no no. While the velvet Topshop versions look sumptuous in theory, on most of us this utilitarian garment will look dumpy. I need only look at the maroon velveteen version I had in the eighth grade to confirm this. I love you, Pamela Love, but please keep your ironic farm garb far, far away...
